32% Revenue Rise for Rentrak's AIM Division
Multi-screen measurement firm Rentrak has reported a 12% increase in consolidated revenue to $24.9m for the third quarter of fiscal 2013, driven by a 32% hike in its Advanced Media and Information (AMI) business.
Operating loss for the third quarter of fiscal 2013 was $1.8m (including $1.5m in stock-based compensation costs), and net loss totalled $1.8m, compared with a net loss of $1.9m for the same period last year. The company says this partially reflects a 22% increase in AMI's operating costs.
AMI's revenue grew 32% to $13.7m, compared with the same quarter last year, and the division now represents 55% of group revenue, with the Home Entertainment arm in steady decline. AMI comprises the TV Essentials unit, which reported a 99% increase in revenue to $4.6m; Box Office Essentials, whose revenue climbed 11% to $6.1m; and OnDemand Anywhere, for which revenues were up 17% to $3.1m.
As anticipated, the Home Entertainment business continued its decline by falling 5% to $11.2m from $11.8m in last year's third fiscal quarter.
Vice Chairman and CEO Bill Livek (pictured) comments: 'The team's success in growing our AMI business included 99% growth in our TV business over last year and 107% growth year-to-date. Much better than anticipated results in Home Entertainment resulted from our team's continued success in extending the life cycle of this business through a variety of initiatives.'
