Hitwise Tracks Mobile Consumer Behaviour
Experian Marketing Services has announced the launch of Hitwise Mobile, which will provide clients with 'comprehensive data and insights' about mobile consumer behaviour.
Data on mobile Internet activity is drawn from a combination of 3G/4G and Wi-Fi sources from both smartphones and tablets. Rankings are reported weekly and monthly and include visits share, page views and average visit time metrics across more than 170 categories for more than 4 million mobile sites globally. A monthly Mobile Custom Report will combine Hitwise's traditional and Mobile rankings to help clients compare their performance against key competitors and benchmark their own performance against industry norms.
Results for the initial wave have been released, covering usage in the week ending February 23rd. Google.com was the no.1 visited site with 17.27% of the market share of mobile visits, while other Google properties (YouTube, Gmail and Google News) filled three of the next five positions, joined by Facebook and Wikipedia. In other categories, ESPN.com was the top visited Sports site and Amazon.com was the top visited Shopping site.
Database and credit checking giant Experian acquired Hitwise in 2007 in a $240m cash deal. Web site: www.hitwise.com .
