Senior Shuffle at IHS
US information and analytics provider IHS has announced that current President and COO Scott Key will assume the role of President and Chief Executive Officer on June 1, when Chairman and CEO Jerre Stead will move into the role of Executive Chairman.
IHS provides information and insight for sectors including energy and power; design and supply chain; defence, risk and security; environmental, health and safety (EHS) and sustainability; and commodities. Last year, the firm acquired UK-based IMS Research, which conducts market research for the global electronics industry; flat panel display researcher Displaybank; the 'CAPS' electronic components database and tools business of PartMiner Worldwide; and the digital oil and gas pipeline information business of Hild Technology Services.
Key (pictured) joined IHS in 2003 to lead strategy, marketing, product and software development teams for the firm's energy business. He took up his current position in 2011, prior to which he served as SVP of Global Products and Services, President and COO of Global Insight, President and COO of Jane's Information Group, and Chairman of Lloyds Register Fairplay which was then bought by IHS. During his time with the company, he has led a number of its largest acquisitions. Before joining, Key held senior roles in energy technology and services at Phillips Petroleum and Arco/Vastar.
Commenting on the appointment, Stead said: 'From the beginning, I have said that I would not transition until we had in place the people, products, platforms and processes to continue the profitable growth of this company well into the future. We now have all of the pieces in place and Scott Key is the perfect leader to drive long-term sustainable profitable growth well into the future.'
C. Michael Armstrong will continue in his position as Lead Independent Director of the IHS Board of Directors.
