IMRSV Launches Webcam Face Recognition Software
In New York, analysis tech firm IMRSV has launched facial recognition software called Cara, through which any webcam can be used to gather audience data such as gender, age, attention time and 'glances'.
The firm says its new solution has been designed as a way to measure retail, advertising and other real world environments that have previously required expensive research studies using 'handwritten pen, paper and clipboard'.
Cara can be integrated into digital signage and displays and used in public venues, retail locations and other facilities to drive the display of personalized ads. The solution is said to be able to detect up to 25 people simultaneously, up to 25 feet away, using a basic web camera for real-time information gathering.
Company founder and CEO Jason Sosa (pictured) comments: 'Businesses are familiar with the power of online data, but in the physical world - where 90% of commerce takes place - there are mostly antiquated tools. Cara is a new way to measure the real world. We want to bring the advantages of the online world into everyday life, from real-time audience measurement to new methods of human computer interaction.'
Initially released for Windows and Linux and requiring only a PC, Internet connection and a standard webcam, Cara will be available for table and mobile devices on both Android and iOS later this year.
