Aegis Buys Amsterdam-Based Social Embassy
Aegis Media has acquired Amsterdam-based social media agency Social Embassy, which uses research to understand online reputation, survey consumers and interview stakeholders. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Established in 2008, Social Embassy has developed monitoring software to analyse the online 'landscape' around a brand. Its resulting Social Media Brand Map model classifies brands based on the share of online conversations and sentiment of posts compared with competing brands. Based on the results of its research, Social Embassy helps clients develop social media strategies and creative concepts for content and activation, and measure and interpret the results.
The company also conducts The Social Media Monitor research study to uncover how top 100 brands make use of it. Following the acquisition, Social Embassy will work closely with the Netherlands-based social media team of Aegis' digital media unit Isobar.
Steven Jongeneel (pictured), founder of Social Embassy, comments: 'We recognize the same ambition as Aegis Media - to join our digital expertise and create smart campaigns for customers in social media. We are excited to be joining the network and we are confident this agreement will be the catalyst to extend our digital media capabilities both nationally and internationally.'
