Spinnakr Raises $1m for Web Analytics Tool
Web analytics firm Spinnakr has launched out of beta with nearly $1m in seed funding from various investors including comScore co-founder Linda Abraham. The firm has also rolled out an update to its analytics platform, enhancing its predictive insight abilities.
Founded in 2011, Spinnakr offers a real-time automated analytics platform allowing users to display targeted messages to different kinds of site visitors. This tool taps into machine-generated observations about site performance, and can automatically display alerts if it finds that a site is receiving a lot of hits from specific user groups.
Co-founder Michael Mayernick (pictured) comments: 'What we've done is enable businesses to immediately be notified of trends, important events that are happening in real-time, spikes of traffic from good press or bad press, people looking for certain things.'
Besides Abraham, new funding comes from a range of venture firms - 500 Startups, Andreessen Horowitz and Point Nine Capital - and angel investors, along with members of University of Maryland's Dingman Center Angels. The funds will be used to expand Spinnakr's product by adding more insight and targeting abilities, and to focus on integrating the service into content management systems.
