Shopify Buys UX Firm Jet Cooper
In Canada, Ottawa-based e-commerce company Shopify, which enables users to create personalized online storefronts, has acquired Toronto user experience (UX) and design firm Jet Cooper. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Shopify was launched in 2006 by Tobias Lütke, who says the acquisition will allow his firm to continue to provide merchants with 'a professionally designed online store that looks like it was custom built by an expensive design firm'.
As a result of the deal, Satish Kanwar, co-founder and CEO of Jet Cooper, will join Shopify with his team of more than 25 developers and designers.
In a statement, Kanwar commented: 'The company culture at Shopify is very similar to ours. We both focus on creating amazing high-quality products, and we make sure to have a great time doing it. Joining the Shopify team will let us continue the kind of work we're passionate about, in a new, fast-growing field.'
