Nielsen Q3 Revenues Edge Upwards
Nielsen has reported a 2.7% increase in third quarter revenue to $1.39 billion, the result of a 2.2% rise in the 'Buy' consumer research arm to $871m, and a 3.4% rise in the 'Watch' media research arm to $516m.
Performance in the Watch business was primarily driven by 4.7% growth in Nielsen's core television measurement service, which the firm said was partially offset by the 'ongoing exit' of certain 'international legacy products'. In the Buy division, Information Services revenue was up 0.9% to $655m, while Insights Services grew 6.7% to $207m.
Overall for the group, adjusted EBITDA increased 4.3% to $398m, while income from continuing operations rose 52.3% to $131m, and adjusted net income was up 17% to $193m.
CEO David Calhoun (pictured) said the third quarter represented 'consistent revenue and profit growth' driven by the firm's ongoing commitment to innovation and global expansion.
For the nine months ended September 30th, revenues were $4.09 billion, compared with $3.96 billion in the prior year period.
