App Analytics Firm Appboy Raises $7.6m
App marketing and analytics firm Appboy has raised $7.6m in a Series A round of financing, which it will use to build its sales and marketing team and expand its product portfolio.
New York-based Appboy was founded in 2011 by Mark Ghermezian (pictured), Bill Magnuson and Jon Hyman. Their firm has developed a mobile data-driven relationship management platform, which generates user profiles and offers user segmentation, location targeting and personalization features.
New funding was led by Icon Venture Partners, with participation from IDG Ventures and Mike Lazerow, CEO of Buddy Media. Existing investors Blumberg Capital, T5 Capital, Bullpen Capital and Accelerator Ventures also participated.
Ghermezian, who is Appboy's CEO, comments: 'With one of the smartest teams and the most powerful MRM platform in the industry, Appboy is in a leadership position for the coming year. As mobile takes over the world as the first screen, Appboy will be the company that powers mobile relationships.'
