Blue Yonder Plans Big Data Academy
Predictive analytics company Blue Yonder is to open a 'Data Science Academy' (DSA) in Europe early next year, with the aim of training execs to 'identify Big Data opportunities within their own companies.'
Blue Yonder says the DSA's interactive training model will cover such areas as 'Industry 4.0', the 'Internet of Things', and dynamic pricing and sales forecasting; and will be used as a platform for businesses to share knowledge, experiment and further train both data scientists and a broad range of other data users including engineers, natural scientists or analysts.
Leading the DSA will be the firm's Senior Data Scientist, former CERN employee Dr. Ulrich Kerzel. Co-founder and Chief Scientific Advisor Prof. Dr. Michael Feindt and fifty other Blue Yonder data scientists will also be involved.
The Academy will offer seminars in German, from February 2014, and in English from April. Blue Yonder CEO Uwe Weiss comments: 'It is ... essential for decision-makers to use the right knowledge when setting themselves up professionally and ensure that this data science expertise is then transferred to their corporation, preparing the business for the future. Blue Yonder's Data Science Academy is a vision that will make this possible.'
