Help with Finding Census Information

With the first wave of 2001 Census outputs expected in September in the UK, how many readers are prepared to act on the new information? The outputs from the 2001 Census will provide unprecedented detail about the UK population - both the traditional residential population and also the workplace population of each specified area.

Barry Leventhal, Chair of The Market Research Society Census and Geodemographics Group, commented, 'We welcome the release of this initial 2001 Census data. Census results are universally beneficial and this new information will be of considerable significance to a wide variety of sectors.'

To help researchers and marketers to access the results and understand the various facets of the 2001 Census, The MRS Census and Geodemographics Group has established a dedicated website - www.geodemographics.org.uk. The website acts as a gateway to the official Census websites and helps users to locate appropriate sources of population data quickly and easily.

Peter Furness, CGG member and Webmaster for the site, commented, 'In such competitive industries, it is vital that researchers and marketers can find the latest population information as quickly as possible. For this reason, the MRS Census and Geodemographics Group has established this website as an index which will direct users to websites containing the 2001 Census results and ancillary information.'

The first 2001 Census outputs are due to be published on 30 September, 2002. For links to Census sites, and to view the online directory of information providers, visit www.geodemographics.org.uk
