SensoMotoric Opens in San Francisco
German eye tracking technology provider SensoMotoric Instruments (SMI) has opened an office in San Francisco, California, from where it will serve customers on the US West Coast.
SMI was founded in 1991 as a spin-off from academic and medical research at FU Berlin by Dr Winfried Teiwes and his academic mentors, and now serves customers around the globe from offices in Teltow, near Berlin, Germany; and Boston, USA. Last year, the company introduced what it described as the first 3D glasses with full eye tracking capabilities, for use in user experience studies and analysis of real-time gaze interaction in virtual environments.
From its new office, the firm will focus on eye tracking integration in consumer and industrial applications. MD Eberhard Schmidt comments: 'The last 12 months have been remarkably dynamic for SMI. We have very strong networks in the Bay Area and the new office will help us further expand them.'
