Marketing Sciences Hires New Sensory Testing Head
In the UK, Creston-owned Marketing Sciences has appointed Dr Debbie Parker as Associate Director, in charge of its Sensory Profiling lab in Westerham, Kent. She replaces Angie Reyner, who has left the company.
Through the lab, Marketing Sciences offers a full product evaluation service, from sensory profiling and analysis, to product development, consumer tests and product optimisation. The facility is equipped with a large central hub kitchen with lots of space for hot and cold food preparation, ovens, chillers and freezers and store rooms, and also has two panel profiling rooms where its sensory panellists can carry out tests in privacy booths.
Parker (pictured) joins from food and drinks industry R&D firm Campden BRI where she has worked since 1988, most recently as Brewing Division Sensory Manager. She has an Honours degree in Biochemistry, has a doctorate in brewing science, and is one of only eight female Beer Academy Sommeliers (www.beeracademy.co.uk/courses/beer-sommelier ) in the world.
Laura Ablett, Director at Marketing Sciences, comments: 'Debbie's extensive experience of sensory analysis combined with her in depth knowledge of brewing makes her a fantastic leader for our sensory team. Her expertise in the alcohol sector will cement our capabilities in that area and her contribution to original research and development will complement our innovative approach to sensory analysis.'
Reyner joined the company's Sensory division in 2006, having previously worked in Unilever Bestfoods sensory team. Details about her next career move are not yet known.
