Gil to Manage Nielsen's New Multicultural Growth Team
Nielsen has set up a new Multicultural Growth and Strategy team, to provide market understanding of, and deliver strategies to reach multicultural consumers. Mónica Gil has been promoted to lead it, as Senior Vice President and General Manager.
Gil (pictured) joined Nielsen in 2004, and most recently served as SVP, Public Affairs and Government Relations. Before this, she was a senior member of the political campaign team of former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa; served as Press Secretary for the speaker of the California State Assembly; and was Director of Public Affairs and Community Outreach for Telemundo stations in Los Angeles.
In her new role, Gil will be responsible for building cross-cultural competencies across Nielsen and will oversee the continued development of the firm's Diverse Intelligence Series reports, which offer in-depth insights into the lifestyle, media and purchase behavior of ethnic segments. In addition, Gil will work closely with Nielsen's data and measurement science teams, to help strengthen the company's competency in ethnic segment research.
EVP, External Affairs Karen Kornbluh comments: 'We are pleased to have Mónica lead this key effort in cultivating and measuring the evolving consumer strength of African-American, Asian American and Hispanic groups in the US.'
