ComRes Launches Tools for Election Season
Policy and strategy consultancy ComRes has launched a number of new services in preparation for May's European Parliament elections and next year's UK general election.
ComRes, which serves clients in the UK and internationally, is known for its polling work on behalf of The Independent and Independent on Sunday, ITV, and the BBC. It was launched in 2003 as CommunicateResearch, and is a founder member of the British Polling Council.
One new tool uses long-term voting intention trends and psephological analysis to gauge the most likely compositional range of the House of Commons after May 2015. This 'ComRes Future MPs' survey comprises both incumbent MPs likely to be returned to the House of Commons, and parliamentary candidates in constituencies where they are likely to win. In addition, the new ComRes Battlebus omnibus survey of 1,000 voters will provide feedback from key Labour and Conservative marginal seats.
Finally, after the European elections, ComRes will be conducting an immediate snap poll of MEPs and 'Brussels Influencers', to assess MEPs' opinions and intentions and give a first indication of the overall outlook of the new European Parliament. 'Brussels Influencers' will deliver the views of the wider Brussels community - including senior decision makers across European institutions, business representatives, EU journalists, think tanks, academics, NGOs and trade associations.
ComRes MD, Katharine Peacock (pictured), said: 'The next twelve months represent a time of significant uncertainty and change for businesses, government and the not-for-profit sector. ComRes is well prepared for these changes in order to provide its clients with the highest quality strategic insight using accurate research among both the public and politicians to allow for effective planning and decision-making.'
