Doctors Network Doximity Raises $54m
In the US, physician network Doximity has closed a $54m Series C investment round, bringing the company's total funding to $81m.
Silicon Valley-based Doximity was set up in 2011 by Jeff Tangney (pictured), who formerly co-founded US physician and healthcare professional sample provider Epocrates. In Doximity, Tangney claims to have created a network with members comprising one in three US physicians, who use the site to connect with colleagues, identify experts for patient referrals, and find new career opportunities. In the future, Doximity plans to monetize the site through market research opportunities and physician recruiting, with members given the option to opt out of these features, and the reassurance that their data will never be sold to third parties.
The new round has been co-led by DFJ and funds and accounts managed by T. Rowe Price Associates, while Morgan Stanley Investment Management funds and accounts also participated as new investors.
Tangney comments: 'Our success is built on solving small problems for doctors every day. With T. Rowe Price and DFJ on board, we look forward to continuing our work to make physicians more connected and successful.'
