Zettics Buys Mobile Data Firm Velocent
In the US, mobile-focused big data analytics firm Zettics has acquired Velocent Systems, which provides mobile data customer experience monitoring and business intelligence services. Terms were not disclosed.
Velocent's solutions allow wireless carriers to monitor their data networks. The firm collects up to 130 key performance indicators (KPIs) in real-time, and can examine networks on an individual subscriber-basis to help wireless carriers isolate where problems occur. Zettics' own solution processes 'trillions' of transactions from mobile phones per month, and enables mobile operators to understand how their data services are being consumed.
Zettics says the acquisition will enable it to provide an analytics suite that integrates data usage, network performance and customer experience / behavioral metrics into a single, unified view. As part of the deal, Velocent's CEO Ian Herbert-Jones will become Zettics' SVP of Business Development and Channel Management, while Velocent's CTO Stephen Douglas becomes VP Technology.
According to Zettics President and CEO Sterling Wilson (pictured) said the companies have complementary technology, customers, and employees, adding: 'Combining Velocent's capabilities with Zettics' deep expertise in analyzing data usage for marketing, care and monetization results in a world-class solution for operators.'
