BBC Worldwide ANZ Names Head of Research
In Sydney, Australia, BBC Worldwide Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) has appointed former Nunwood/TLE researcher Joe Lynch as Head of Research and Consumer Insights, starting in August.
Based in Macquarie Park, Sydney, BBC Worldwide ANZ wholly owns five channels: UKTV, BBC Knowledge, and CBeebies in Australia, and UKTV and BBC Knowledge in New Zealand; and is responsible for the distribution and promotion of BBC World News, which transmits in both countries. In August, it will launch a new channel, BBC First, showcasing premiere drama and comedy on the Foxtel platform in Australia.
Lynch (pictured) will bring more than twenty years' experience in brand strategy and consumer insights, working across Europe, Australia and North America. During his career, he served as an Account Director at Millward Brown, headed up Qual for the North America region at Nunwood, focused on media clients at TLE (The Leading Edge), and was Associate Director at research and strategy firm The Seed. More recently, he has been on sabbatical, working for children's charities in schools, orphanages and communities in Peru, Haiti, Nepal, India and Indonesia.
In his new role Lynch will manage a team of two, while also working closely with the BBC Worldwide global Research and Insight team. He will report to Melissa Madden, Director of Brands and Marketing, who comments: 'Joe has a great passion for the consumer and will help to ensure that they are placed at the heart of everything BBC Worldwide does. He is an expert in qualitative research and will help to deliver valuable insights to enhance all areas of our business.'
