Transport Specialist Launches Data Division

In the US, travel-based IT solutions firm Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS) has set up a new subsidiary called Urban Insights Associates, which uses big data and predictive analytics software to help public transportation agencies improve the operations of their transit networks.

The new Washington DC-based subsidiary will use tailored data science methodology to help transport planners gather relevant data, analyze and assess its meaning, optimise service provision and make cities more efficient.

EVP Matthew Cole (pictured) said: 'Our customers have asked for help to combine the data that Cubic's management systems create with the many other data sets they collect to understand the interplay of these systems and derive insights to improve operations. This customer need was the genesis of Urban Insights.'
