IHS Buys Chemical Markets Specialist
In the UK, analytics firm IHS has acquired Guildford-based chemical market insight and consulting firm PCI Acrylonitrile, for an undisclosed sum.
The acquired firm provides information, analysis and advice about the market for acrylonitrile - a chemical used in the manufacture of plastics for civilian and military applications; and for acrylic fibre and related plastics and rubber industries. Its services include monthly and annual reports, customised studies and consulting, and it runs an industry event. Led by founder Simon Garmston (pictured), the firm also has consultants and representatives working in Shanghai, Seoul, the USA, India and Pakistan.
In a statement, IHS said that together with its own expertise and insight in the areas of aerospace, electronics and automotive, the buy demonstrates its commitment to providing services across the entire spectrum of the chemical to end-user value chains.
CEO Scott Key adds: 'The acquisition of PCI Acrylonitrile is a tremendous addition to our chemical market advisory service covering the fibres and plastics businesses. We are excited to welcome Simon Garmston, who is recognized globally for his expertise in this highly specialized, but strategically important and growing chemical market.'
