Bloomberg Sells Sports Data Firm to STATS
In the US, financial software, data and media company Bloomberg has sold its sports analytics division to sports data and content provider STATS. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Launched in 2010, Bloomberg Sports (BSports) takes the technology developed by Bloomberg, and applies it to sports data analysis. The firm also offers a predictive and analytic tool called Match Analysis, for forecasting football game results and scores.
As part of the deal, BSports will be combined with STATS' Sports Solution Group division, to offer a suite of sports data products and services to multi-media, team, league, gaming and technology clients.
BSports President Bill Squadron (pictured) will remain with the company and report to STATS CEO Gary Walrath, who comments: 'On behalf of everyone here, I would like to welcome the team at Bloomberg Sports to the STATS family. Our mission is to revolutionize the way sports are viewed, understood, played and enjoyed, and the addition of BSports' very talented team and compelling portfolio of products significantly bolsters our global strategy.'
