GfK has hired Nielsen veteran Shelly Berg as Senior Vice President in its Retail & Technology division's pet sales tracking business. She will be based in the San Francisco office.
In the US, the group's Retail & Technology division produces point-of-sale data from retailers, specialists and other resellers in verticals including pet (food and health products) and optics (eyewear products). The division also conducts a number of in-store programs.
Berg (pictured) joins after seventeen years at Nielsen, most recently as VP in charge of the Walmart Sam's Club team, responsible for all aspects of data adoption, collaboration, and integration of Nielsen data into the Sam's Club organization. During her time with the firm, she also held senior positions on the Nestle and Safeway teams, as well as serving in a consumer insights specialist role working with large retailers.
In her new position, she will report to Neil Portnoy, Retail and Technology's MD for North America, who comments: 'Shelly is a proven leader who understands brand and category management inside and out, and will help clients use our data to optimize marketing and sales for key products. She brings the kind of expertise we need to help companies get ahead in today's fast-moving pet marketplace.'
