Funds for Big Data Platform Zoomdata
In the US, Zoomdata, which boasts 'the world's fastest big data exploration, visualization and analytics platform', has closed $17m in a Series B funding round led by Accel Partners. The money is earmarked for sales and marketing expansion along with investment in product innovation.
Accel were joined by investors NEA, Columbus Nova Technology Partners, Razor's Edge Ventures and B7.
Zoomdata's micro-query architecture and 'data sharpening technology' give users an instant approximated sketch of results, then brings it into increasing focus with continuously updates based on additional query results. A flexible interface allows exploration of data through smartphones and tablets as well as web browsers, and a JavaScript SDK allows developers to build private-label versions. Zoomdata began shipping its product in February of 2013.
Founder and CEO Justin Langseth says the firm's disruption of the market relies on two key innovations: 'our patented micro-query technology, combined with our stream processing engine, allows Zoomdata to render big data into compelling visual views within seconds, tapping directly into both historical and real-time data across both legacy and modern datastores.'
The firm's home page is at www.zoomdata.com .
