Supra-National Idea for Nation Brands Man
Norfolk, UK-based consultant Simon Anholt - the man responsible for the Anholt Nation Brands Index - has launched an ambitious worldwide political organisation, Good Country.
Anholt announced the launch at a TEDx conference in Amsterdam on Friday. The idea, according to an interview in www.theguardian.com , was developed after the launch of a new ranking, the Good Country Index, earlier this year, which created a storm of interest on social media. His previous career has been spent advising presidents and prime ministers on possible ways to change their national image; and developing and operating the Nation Brands Index (NBI), partnering with the likes of GfK Roper Public Affairs and Media.
The new party has, according to Anholt, a natural potential support base of around a tenth of the world's population - 700 million people - spread across the globe, whom he refers to as 'new cosmopolitans'. Described rather unflatteringly by his Guardian visitor as 'a data-driven Russell Brand', Anholt delivers the immense figure with a smile and adds: 'once we have the 700 million the question will be: 'How do I keep them entertained?''
For the views / program of the party in question, see its web site, www.goodcountry.org .
