Beckon Raises $13m to Develop Data Platform
Marketing data management and analytics software developer Beckon has closed a $13m round of Series B funding, which it will use to continue development of its platform.
The firm is based in San Mateo, California and was set up in 2011 by Jennifer Zeszut and Jochen Frey, who previously founded social media analytics firm Scout Labs. The latter was sold to social media networking solutions firm Lithium Technologies with a price tag of between $20m and $25m. The new firm develops omnichannel marketing software through which data can be analyzed and then viewed in a single proprietary dashboard.
Zeszut (pictured) comments: 'Our clients are some of the savviest marketers there are, but they've been wrestling with IT for years to get help with omnichannel data management and analytics. Or they've been hitting brick walls trying to make generic tools work for marketing. When CMOs see Beckon and how fast we can show what's working across it all, it's love at first sight.'
The company's new funding has been led by Venrock, with participation from all previous Beckon investors including August Capital, Canaan Partners and El Dorado Ventures. This latest investment brings the total raised to date to $23m.
