Lux Research Buys Energy Points
Emerging technology specialist Lux Research has acquired the assets of Energy Points, a provider of energy and resources intelligence and analytics. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
 Founded in 2011 by Ory Zik and Roy Stein, Boston-based Energy Points' platform quantifies source energy, measuring its use from source through the site of consumption. The firm says this allows it to convert all energy sources - including water, electricity, fuels and materials - into a single common unit which can be used to help organizations calculate and communicate consumption levels.
As part of the acquisition, Zik and all Energy Points' data scientists, modeling, predictive analytics and statistical programming specialists will be joining the Lux Research team.
Lux CEO Dennis Philbin (pictured) says the acquisition adds benchmarking and geospatial analytics to his firm's portfolio. He adds: 'Energy Points' data and analytics will also become the foundation for a series of benchmarking products our clients can use to assess their resource efficiency and selection of technologies to improve it, and to better understand and predict the value of new resource-focused products and services in the market'.
