Big Data Giant Cloudera Expands to Eastern Europe
Big data giant Cloudera has opened an office in Budapest, Hungary, from which to drive its presence across Eastern Europe.
Cloudera offers a unified platform for big data built on Apache Hadoop, through which to store, process and analyse data in one place. Last year, the firm acquired DataPad, a platform which helps users integrate, analyse and distribute their data; as well as data security start-up Gazzang.
The company is headquartered in Palo Alto, CA, and has additional offices across the US, as well as in China, Japan, London, Australia and India. Cloudera plans to recruit 30 staff for its new operation in Hungary, which will serve as an engineering and support base for Eastern Europe.
Amr Awadallah (pictured), founder, CTO and acting VP of Engineering, comments: 'After opening our EMEA headquarters in the UK, the demand for Hadoop began to further accelerate. Expanding into Eastern Europe was a goal that we are proud to have reached. After an exhaustive location search, we chose Budapest based on the high calibre of talent within this region.'
