Nutshell Launches Mobile Qual and Quant Platform
In the UK, consumer insight and brand consultancy Nutshell has launched a mobile app which can host traditional surveys, supplemented by uploads of photos or video clips.
Maidenhead, Berkshire-based Nutshell was founded in 2013 by Rob Murray, former Marketing Director of Wickes and Ryvita; Alistair Moore, who previously founded marketing strategy consultancy Clear Ideas; and FMCG researcher Helen Hoyle. Their firm offers a broad range of qual and quant techniques, user experience studies, co-creation research, brand tracking, and multi-data analysis.
The new Nutshell Mobile research app delivers task and diary-based surveys to consumers, to capture their experiences as they happen - in video, image, audio, and through traditional questions. Nutshell then adds the context, for example meeting the family in the home environment, to understand how individuals live, which brands and products they regularly use and how they interact with them. Through the tool, the firm delivers real-time multimedia responses for a variety of scenarios, such as exploring the purchase journey over a period of time, or adding a contextual element to focus groups and depth interviews.
Commenting on the launch, Murray says: 'Nutshell is all about helping clients get a better commercial outcome from their investment in research. We see our job as delivering something for clients which really exploits the inherent strengths of the smartphone and the relationship users have with it.'
