STATS Acquires Athlete and Sports Tracker Prozone
Sports data and content provider STATS has acquired Leeds-based athlete tracking and performance analytics specialist Prozone for an undisclosed amount.
With offices in Europe, China, Australia and Africa, Prozone maintains a database of more than 100,000 players, and its technology captures proprietary data from over 12,000 sporting events a year. The company's suite of software products combines data analytics and video tracking to generate post-match analyses, trend analyses, scouting reports and other information.
Through the deal, STATS expands its geographic reach and sports coverage, as well as its game and player performance tracking, while adding complementary technologies to its suite of products. The latest transaction follows STATS' acquisition of The Sports Network and Automated Insights earlier this year, and of Bloomberg's sports analytics division BSports last September.
Thomas Schmider, CEO of Prozone, comments: 'Our knowledge and experience in performance analysis for football (soccer), rugby, hockey and handball is a fantastic complement to STATS' expertise in NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, college football, college basketball, and soccer. Together through our combined global sales network, we can deliver complementary products to a broader range of customers all over the world.'
