Former NPD Exec to Lead 'Solar Intelligence' Division

In the UK, publisher and conference organiser Solar Media has hired Finlay Colville, previously Head of NPD Solarbuzz, to lead its recently formed Solar Intelligence division.

Colville, who takes the title Head of Solar Intelligence, spent five years at Solarbuzz, leaving in October 2014, and has more than a decade of experience in the sector, spanning the value-chain from upstream manufacturing to downstream site deployment. Before joining the NPD company he spent ten years in senior sales and marketing roles at Coherent Inc., specialising in high-tech segments including microelectronics, solar, bioinstrumentation and ultrafast spectroscopy. He holds a BSc in Physics, and a PhD in nonlinear photonics from the University of St. Andrews.

The new division will tap Solar Media's data from many years in the sector, orgsniaing trade shows such as Solar Energy UK, a dedicated Large-Scale conference and a series of finance and investment-focused conferences in London, New York and Singapore; and from almost a decade of publishing on the development of the solar industry.

Solar Media MD Tim Mann says the appointment is 'a fantastic boost to our existing in-house resources', adding that Colville's 'market knowledge and research credentials are a perfect match to the core competences at Solar Media, and will significantly enhance the quality and scope of the Solar Intelligence team'.
