'Job Losses' at Nielsen's NRG
Around a dozen middle-ranking execs have been laid off in the Los Angeles office of Nielsen's movie tracking division NRG this week, according to unconfirmed reports.
Reports on web site Deadline Hollywood (www.deadline.com ) suggested the execs were called in to be given the news yesterday afternoon, and said Nielsen/NRG had opted not to comment. Last month, it was announced that Nielsen had appointed banker Jordan Edmiston to explore the possible sale of the division's movie tracking arm.
NRG was founded in 1978 by Joseph Farrell and business partner Catherine Paura, and sold to Nielsen in 2002. Paura and her sister Angela (a former COO of NRG) set up a new entertainment research company, Capstone Global Marketing and Research Group, in April 2012.
