Investment Fund Launched for Data Start-ups
US software company Symantec has partnered with venture capital firm Frost Data Capital to provide seed funding, resources and expertise for start-ups in the areas of analytics, big data and Internet of Things.
Successful applicants will receive access to Frost's data analytics expertise and knowledge, and have the opportunity to collaborate with Symantec to solve data issues. The firms will incubate up to ten companies per year. John Vigouroux, Managing Partner and President of Frost Capital Data, says Symantec will bring to the table 'world-class' technology and strategic relationships instrumental in the successful launch of the new firms.
Jeff Scheel, SVP, Strategy, Alliances and Corporate Development at Symantec, adds: 'By collaborating with Frost Data Capital, we create an environment primed to incubate new, innovative and disruptive startups - especially in the realm of IoT technologies where verticals like process control, automotive, health care and energy require specialized skills'.
