HP Boss Whitman Joins SurveyMonkey Board
DIY online survey firm SurveyMonkey has added Meg Whitman, currently Chairman, President and CEO of computer giant HP, to a Board of Directors which already includes Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg.
The Palo Alto, CA-based company (soon to move its HQ) was founded in 1999, boasts more than 25 million customers and 3 million survey responses every day, and despite a modest 500 employees in the USA and Europe, has been valued at around $2bn.
The Board now has nine members, including David Ebersman, Dana L. Evan, Ryan Finley, Lee Fixel, Zander Lurie, Sheryl Sandberg, Benjamin C. Spero and CEO Bill Veghte. Veghte says of the appointment: 'We are honored to have Meg join our board. Her vision, coupled with her track record of success and innovation at some of the most iconic software and Internet companies in the world, making her an extremely valuable addition to SurveyMonkey'.
Whitman herself says she has 'followed SurveyMonkey for many years', and having worked closely with several of the current Board members recognises 'a tremendously experienced and talented team in place'.
In April, the company spent an undisclosed sum to buy web-based software platform TechValidate, which specializes in collecting customer experience data.
Sandberg is the widow of former SurveyMonkey CEO Dave Goldberg, who died in May at the age of just 47, after an accident in a gym whilst on holiday.
