Owler Introduces Business Competitive Graph
Competitive intelligence specialist Owler has introduced a tool called the Competitive Graph, which maps the relationships between companies to understand how they compete.
Launched in 2011, San Mateo, California and Coimbatore, India-based Owler provides competitive intelligence on companies and competitors, and its database of more than eleven million company profiles is used by business professionals to find out how they stack up against their competitors. In addition, the firm provides clients with intelligence about their competitors, customers and partners.
Its new Competitive Graph has been developed by more than 100,000 members who regularly update their competitor information, along with estimates on data such as revenue, employee numbers, and CEO ratings. Using the free service, members can access competitive intelligence reports and analysis; daily snapshots, news and alerts; and special reports on areas such as funding and acquisitions.
Owler's CEO Jim Fowler (pictured) likens the new tool to Facebook's Social Graph and LinkedIn's Professional Graph, and predicts that his firm's Competitive Graph will have a similar impact on the business world. 'Imagine sitting down with all the employees in your office and asking them to list your company's top five competitors. When you combine all the lists the result is a comprehensive wisdom-of-crowds ranking of your competitors. When you expand the exercise to include hundreds of thousands of participants you get a powerful network effect,' Fowler adds.
