IBM Launches 'Insight Cloud Services'
IBM has launched a range of services using analytic models to find signals within the 'noise' of data sets, connect them and deliver insights with direct application for business. Partnerships with Twitter and The Weather Company provide this 'Insight Cloud' with a mass of real-time data.
The new service includes three offers - IBM Industry Analytics Solutions, which uses 'cognitive techniques' to help businesses address industry issues; IBM Insight APIs for Developers, which enables developers to stream data from The Weather Company and Twitter into web and mobile apps; and IBM Market Insights, which helps consumer product, media and entertainment companies to analyze social media to develop customer segments, and use this to optimise ad spend and content / product development.
Weather Company data includes historical and forecasted weather data - as an example, IBM says an insurance company could use this to alert their customers to adverse weather conditions, potentially reducing claims and improving customer satisfaction.
Joel Cawley, GM, Information and Insights as a Service, comments: 'Insight Cloud Services help clients create actionable insights from the noisy reality of the world. IBM is applying data science expertise and advanced analytics to exploit external data, find and connect the signals in that data to create new insights, and then deliver these insights embedded in clients' business processes'.
