GfK Appoints General Counsel for The Americas

GfK has appointed corporate attorney Anna Maria Vitek as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for the Americas, based in its New York City office.

Vitek (pictured) joins from Avon Products where she was VP, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, Latin America. During this time she served as lead counsel for mergers and acquisitions, negotiated joint venture and global license agreements with corporate partners, and established the company's International Practice Group. She was also responsible for all legal and compliance matters for Avon in Latin America.

Earlier, she worked as an Associate in the Corporate and Litigation departments at the international law firm of Debevoise & Plimpton, having begun her legal career as a Law Clerk in the US District Court in the Southern District of New York.

In her new role, Vitek's responsibilities include supervising and managing the company's Legal Department in the Americas and supporting its Chief Legal and Compliance Officer. She will also help to structure, negotiate, and document mergers and acquisitions on a global basis while managing external counsel in North America and Latin America.
