Jon Penn Named NRG CEO
Just weeks after Nielsen's entertainment research subsidiary NRG was acquired by Mark Penn's investment company Stagwell, his nephew Jon Penn has been named as NRG's new Chief Executive.
NRG has more than 100 employees across two offices located in Los Angeles and London. Mark, who is a renowned political pollster and co-founder of Penn Schoen Berland, set up Stagwell in June, with $250m in funding to invest in advertising, research, data analytics, PR, digital design and marketing services companies. The business acquired NRG (National Research Group) last month, when former EVP Howard Ballon moved into the role of Interim CEO.
Jon Penn (pictured) takes over from Ballon after nearly two decades at Penn Schoen Berland, most recently as Global CEO of the Media and Entertainment practice. Ballon will remain with NRG as Executive Vice President, working with Stagwell on acquisitions.
Mark Penn comments: 'The Stagwell Group is pleased to have Jon coming to lead NRG at this critical juncture. He is an accomplished leader in entertainment market research. He is uniquely qualified to help us grow NRG with a strong focus on innovation and strategic thinking on behalf of our clients'.
