Attwood Replaces Calhoun in Nielsen Chair

Nielsen has appointed James A. Attwood, Jr. as non-executive Chairman of its Board of Directors, effective January 1st and succeeding David L. Calhoun.

Attwood, as the representative of investor company The Carlyle Group, was appointed to the board of Nielsen's holding company VNU when it was taken private by Valcon in 2006. Recently he has served as the Nielsen board's lead independent director.

Calhoun has served as Executive Chairman of the board since the first day of 2014, when Mitch Barns took over the role of CEO. Calhoun, the former Vice Chairman of General Electric Company, had joined VNU as Chairman and CEO in August 2006. He will continue to serve as a Nielsen Board Director.
