SurveyMonkey and NBC News Extend Polling Partnership
In the US, NBC News and SurveyMonkey have extended their polling partnership to 2018, and launched weekly online polls giving snapshots of voter behavior and attitudes throughout the 2016 election cycle.
The partnership was launched in October 2014, and produces in-depth assessments of public opinion and attitudes for the broadcast and digital news provider, as well as exploring best practice in online survey research.
Each of the new weekly polls will draw from a nationally representative sample of several thousand adults aged eighteen plus, with respondents randomly selected from the millions of people using the SurveyMonkey platform each day.
The DIY polling software specialist recently appointed Pollster.com co-founder Mark Blumenthal (pictured) for the newly created role of Head of Election Polling, based in Washington DC and working alongside Jon Cohen, VP of Survey Research and former WashPo pollster.
The first of the new polls puts Donald Trump well in the lead in the Republican race, with 35% support compared to 18% for Ted Cruz and 13% for Marco Rubio; while in the Democratic field, Hillary Clinton leads Sen. Bernie Sanders by 53% to 36%.
