TechTarget Names CEO, Shifts Focus to Intent Data
US technology publisher TechTarget has promoted COO Mike Cotoia to the role of Chief Executive Officer, as the firm shifts its focus to providing clients with subscribers' purchase intent data. He replaces Greg Strakosch, who moves to the role of Executive Chairman.
TechTarget offers access to more than more than 140 technology-specific web sites, and a broad range of custom advertising, branding, lead generation, and sales enablement solutions. A year ago, the firm opened a Research division which taps into its subscribers' real-time purchase intent data to engage technology buyers and to develop a range of new intelligence and reports.
Cotoia (pictured) joined TechTarget in 2002, and since 2012 has served as Chief Operating Officer. Previously, he was EVP, SVP of Sales, and VP and Publisher of the company's Storage, CIO and Channel Media Groups, having launched the last-mentioned in 2006. Prior to joining the company, he held positions at EMC Corporation, SANZ and Deloitte.
Commenting on the promotion, Strakosch said: 'As TechTarget transitions from primarily providing quarterly marketing campaigns to an increased focus on providing our customers with purchase intent data under long-term contracts, now is the right time for Mike Cotoia to become CEO. His knowledge of our business, his work ethic and get-it-done attitude make him the perfect choice to lead this transition'.
