New MRS Chairman
The Market Research Society (MRS) in the UK has announced that Jennie Beck has been appointed as its new Chairman with immediate effect.
Currently Director of NFO Media, Jennie has over 25 years' experience of working in the market research profession, time which included marketing and researching The Observer and running her own consultancy.
A proactive member of the industry throughout her career, Jennie's long involvement with The MRS has included the roles of Vice Chairman of The MRS and Chair of the MRS Professional Standards Committee. In addition, she is a regular speaker at industry events and frequently runs training sessions on media research and ethical industry issues.
Commenting on her vision for the Society, Jennie explained, 'The MRS is a dynamic and highly-respected professional organization whose strength lies in effectively representing the views of a diverse range of members. One of my intentions during my tenure as Chair will be to maintain the high priority given to the promotion and encouragement of professional best practice but there are other issues that face us. I think the industry is going through a period of transformation and The MRS needs to play its part in embracing change and in ensuring the ongoing evolution of the market research profession.'
Jennie concluded, 'I am also keen to pursue ideas for attracting increased numbers of bright graduates into the profession and encouraging wider involvement in The MRS by researchers at all stages of their career. The MRS is continuously developing its products and services to maintain its relevance to this fast-moving profession - as witnessed by the success of its recent 'new-look' Conference - and I am keen to maximise its value to the broadest range of research and marketing professionals.'
Jennie Beck is also a member of the Media Research Group and the Association of Qualitative Research (AQR). She succeeds Sally Ford-Hutchinson as Chair of The MRS.
