Former HomeAway COO is New SurveyMonkey President

DIY online survey platform SurveyMonkey has appointed former HomeAway COO Tom Hale as President, overseeing engineering, product, product marketing, user experience and growth.

Hale (pictured) joins after six years at holiday home rental site HomeAway, where as COO he helped build the team, platform, product and business for the firm's 2015 sale to Expedia for $3.9bn. Prior to this, he was Chief Product Officer at Second Life developer Linden lab, and he held senior roles at Adobe and Macromedia, having worked at the latter during the decade prior to its sale to Adobe.

At SurveyMonkey, Hale is tasked with scaling the company's core subscription platform; creating a more collaborative, personalized product experience; and driving international expansion. In addition, he will spearhead the development of new offerings and data solutions. CEO Zander Lurie comments: 'Tom is an industry veteran who is known as a culture leader and innovator. He has incredible experience building out teams and bringing both business and consumer products to market. We're excited to bring him on board to help us transform our survey platform into a data business'.
