SurveyMonkey to Close Down App Analytics Service
DIY online survey firm SurveyMonkey is winding down its mobile app analytics service, after just eight months, due to a lack of customer interest.
SurveyMonkey Intelligence was launched in April to provide app publishers with data on more than a thousand mobile apps ad well as the overall app economy, and followed the firm's acquisition of app data specialist Renzu. Information supplied includes active users, sessions per day, downloads and retention, revenue and demographics. However, the market is a busy one with well-funded, more specialist competitors such as App Annie, Flurry and Apptopia, while SurveyMonkey's core business lies elsewhere.
In a blog post, SurveyMonkey said: 'We're proud of the product we built and the community of mobile app entrepreneurs, developers, and investors, who inspired it. Goodbyes are never easy. But doing this allows us to focus more resources on making our existing products even better'. Existing customers will get December's data for free, and the service will close on 31st January next year.
