Women In Research Hires First MD
In the US, not-for-profit organization Women In Research (WIRe) has appointed former FocusVision exec Michelle Andre as its first Managing Director, responsible for organizational development and oversight, fundraising, marketing, and assisting with long-term planning.
WIRe exists to encourage the establishment of relationships among women in the market research sector through informal gatherings. Its goal is to develop more women as CEOs or in senior management positions, more women starting their own research firms, and more women choosing research as a career path. The organization was founded in 2007 by Kristin Luck, who currently works as an industry consultant, and previously served as CMO of quant MR tech firm Decipher prior to its sale to MR tech and tools group FocusVision.
Andre (pictured) joins from rewards specialist Virtual Incentives, prior to which she drove marketing at FocusVision and led the rebrand of the company and its products. In addition, she has held executive and management-level positions in a variety of industries, with experience ranging from nonprofit to corporate to agency, primarily in San Francisco.
Commenting on the appointment, Luck said: 'What started as an informal gathering of industry women in 2007 has turned into an international non-profit supporting over 5,000 women globally. Michelle will help manage WIRe's rapid growth to ensure we serve women in this quickly evolving industry. Her industry knowledge and extensive experience in nonprofit management, will take WIRe to the next level in serving our community and our donors'.
