Kantar / CTR JV Gets Hong Kong Ratings Contract
The Hong Kong TAM Founding Subscribers Committee (FSC) has awarded CSM Media Research the contract for the provision of TV ratings in Hong Kong, from January 2018 until 2023. The company is a joint venture between Kantar Media and CTR.
HKTAM FSC is the official industry committee for appointing the TAM provider in Hong Kong, formed by eleven media agency members of The Association of Accredited Advertising Agents of Hong Kong, plus Fantastic Television Limited, Television Broadcasts Limited, and HK Television Entertainment Company Limited.
For the new contract, Kantar Media's home router meter and on-device Internet measurement technology will passively measure all viewing in and out of the home, while comScore streaming tags will identify content and commercials. Through a representative panel of 2,700 individuals from 1,000 households, CSM Media Research's 25% increased sample will aim to deliver a single view of TV viewing across all devices. This includes ratings data for content transmitted over all existing and future terrestrial and non-terrestrial free TV, satellite and Pay TV channels, OTT Media Box, blue-ray and game consoles. Live, time-shifted and catch-up services will be included, up to seven days using Kantar Media's PeopleMeter technology; as will all TV and video content that is streamed or accessed over the Internet through tablet, smartphones, PCs and connected devices.
Ray Wong (pictured), Chairman of the HKTAM FSC and Chief Executive of PHD Hong Kong comments: 'CSM and Kantar Media presented an innovative proposal building on their many years of experience across the world. We are confident that, as our partner of choice they will ensure the highest standards to deliver a holistic view of TV consumption in this exciting market'.
