Nielsen Launches Inclusivity Initiative in Oxford
In the UK, Nielsen has launched an employee resource group (ERG) called MOSAIC (Multinational Organization Supporting an Inclusive Culture) at its office in Oxford, where the firm says its employees identify with 57 different nationalities.
The MOSAIC scheme has been set up to recognize and celebrate the breadth of perspectives and backgrounds of Nielsen's employees. To ensure Nielsen is regarded as an employer of choice for diverse recruitment candidates, MOSAIC members are tasked with finding ways to connect their work with their communities, and proactively engage with new hires to help them understand other local cultures and languages. In addition, MOSAIC will hold cross-cultural and STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) education events at local universities and schools.
This is Nielsen's ninth ERG launch, and follows last spring's introduction of an initiative called Nielsen Generation (N-GEN) in Shanghai. Sherri Dublin, VP of Diversity Programmes, says the ERGs not only enable staff to experience the firm's diversity and inclusion strategies 'up close', but also provide a direct link to the communities where they live and work.
Petra Tileschova, Global Audit & Compliance and MOSAIC lead, adds: 'Nielsen has recognized that the empowerment and amplification of diverse voices and perspectives is a necessary step to ensure we, as well as our clients, keep pace with a diversifying world population. The creation of MOSAIC, in one of Nielsen's most diverse offices, is a demonstration of our commitment to cultivating an inclusive environment where associates from around the world feel comfortable bringing their diverse backgrounds to the workplace'.
