Former Tesco Chief Digital Officer Joins SPINS
In the US, former Tesco exec Thomas Nielsen has joined health and wellness consumer insights agency SPINS as Strategic Advisor.
SPINS provides market measurement information and insights on consumer trends in health and wellness. Nielsen (pictured) joins with a 25-year background in technology and operations. Most recently, he worked at supermarket giant Tesco as Chief Digital Officer, with overall responsibility for digital product strategy across the group's portfolio of apps, web sites and services. In this role, he was also accountable for the Clubcard loyalty scheme, had executive ownership of Tesco's engagement with data and analytics division dunnhumby, and took direct responsibility for all data-driven marketing activities. In addition, he led Tesco's Global Customer Data Strategy and Policies teams. Before Tesco, Nielsen held senior positions at Brightcove, RealNetworks, Adobe and Microsoft.
In his new role, he joins former dunnhumby execs Brian Gillis and Peter Bond, who have recently joined the firm as head of the North America Retail team and VP of Consumer Activation respectively.
