Emotion Measurement Firm Canvs Names New COO
In New York, language analytics and emotion measurement specialist Canvs has appointed James Delaney as Chief Operating Officer, in charge of sales, marketing and client operations.
Canvs uses patented semantic analysis technology to understand how people feel and why they feel that way for TV networks, film and media clients. Built using social media listening research from MSI Young Marketing Scholar Professor Sam Hui, as well as real-world analyst experience, the company's measurement insights are used for everything from character and plotline development to social media and advertising strategies. Earlier this month, the firm added artificial intelligence (AI) features to its platform, to help clients understand how emotion affects behavior.
Delaney (pictured) has a background in building cloud-based data analytics technology businesses. Most recently, he was Chief Revenue Officer at artificial intelligence specialist Fractal Industries, prior to which he was CEO of social media analytics and insights firm Sysomos, and CEO of press release distribution firm Marketwired. Earlier, he served as President, Global Sales & Marketing Solutions at Dun & Bradstreet, and held senior roles at JPMorgan Chase.
Commenting on the appointment, Canvs founder and CEO Jared Feldman said: 'Canvs is squarely focused on establishing emotion as a currency, and we will continue to invest in accelerating how leaders in media can research and value their content more effectively. We are thrilled to have a seasoned operator like Jim join, as his experience in enabling companies to provide the utmost value to customers at scale is a huge asset'.
