Kantar Worldpanel Launches Mobile-Based UAE Panel
Shopper insights firm Kantar Worldpanel has launched a household panel in the United Arab Emirates, driven by a mobile application.
Worldpanel, which already has panels in MENA countries panels in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Senegal, says the new methodology ensures the most accurate measurement of consumer purchase behavior. The UAE is the second largest Arab economy after Saudi Arabia, and the panel covers the 'key emirates' of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah & Ajman.
More than 80% of the population in the UAE is expatriate, giving an interesting challenge to those tracking and observing consumer purchase behavior. The first data sets for the UAE are already available.
Alan Roy, Business Unit Head - Middle East, Kantar Worldpanel, says the UAE is 'one of the most diverse markets with more than 100 ethnicities', and has 'the most evolved trade in the region'. He adds: 'We are best prepared to provide insights on how shoppers shop different brands and categories within top retailers such as Carrefour and Lulu. With the panel in UAE we will be able to fill a gap for our clients'.
