JDA and dunnhumby Launch Assortment Optimization Tool
Supply chain solutions provider JDA Software has launched what it describes as the industry's first 'space-aware' assortment optimization solution, in partnership with shopper data firm dunnhumby. The tool uses data science to increase customer loyalty, return on inventory and space.
The firms first partnered earlier this year on a solution for assortment and space planning. The new solution - 'JDA Assortment Optimization - Powered by dunnhumby' - combines the latter's customer data science analytics with the former's category management capabilities, to recommend assortments to optimize available shelf space for the best performing products. In addition, the service enables internal stakeholders and trading partners to review scorecard measures through a web interface when creating assortments; while stores can also review and provide feedback to proposed assortment plans to better align merchandise with local preferences and demand.
Kent Ruesink (pictured), JDA's Senior Director, Product Management, comments: 'With new products constantly hitting the market, retailers are challenged to satisfy and retain shoppers with shifts in in-store layouts, an ideal mix of new products, best sellers and private labels within limited shelf space. With this new solution, we are unlocking crucial insights into shopper behavior, enabling retailers to deliver true shopper-centric merchandising plans with localized assortments, offers, and space plans built to drive further automation, sales and profitable growth'.
